We have four vintage lights in our living room. One is from my moms best friend, Marty McDaniel’s estate sale, two from my paternal grandmother Mabel Hazel and the fourth, Stu picked up from the side of the road.
About a year ago something odd started happening. One or another of those lights started coming on occasionally. I spoke to my daughter Lindsey about it. Her advice to me was to go sit under the light and mediate. I tried, but if you know me, I can’t sit still for long, so after 5 minutes I was done trying.
Occasionally one of those lights would turn on when one of the grandkids spent the night. It wasn’t a concern as it was just the ‘angel’ light.
On April 13, 2023, Lindsey developed undiagnosed, ventricular fibrillation. (V-fib, not A-fib). That turned into a cardiac arrest. There wasn’t an AED (defibrillator) at her work & the ambulance took 14 minutes to arrive in downtown Grand Blanc. The CPR wasn’t enough to prevent oxegyn deprivation of the brain, she was in a coma.
She was an organ donor so we did the honor walk. But once taken off life support she didn’t pass in the allotted 2 hours, so the surgeons were sent home and she was brought back to her room.
The family agreed it would be best for her to spend her last days in Stu & I’s home with her kids & husband coming daily. We had her for 15 days, including Mothers Day. It was a blessing to us all.
On May 22,2023, her breathing became more labored and stopped multiple times. And then the angel light over her bed became very bright, then very dim a multiple of times in a row. Within hours the angels were sent for her.
The vintage ‘angel’ light stopped coming on at night. But then after 40 days . . . on July 2nd, 4th & again last night it started coming on at night again.
I may need to try to mediate again.
